Homemade Schnapps

This was Casey's Saturday project. I think he had fun doing this, and it has been a long time coming. Uncle Keith lives back in Casey's home town in Iowa, and we don't see him & Aunt Diann (a.k.a. "Sarge") very often. Thanks to cousin LeAnn for sending us the recipe again!

Uncle Keith's Homemade Schnapps

1/2 gallon water
3 1/2 c. sugar
Bring to boil—stir until clear.
Let cool for approximately 5 minutes.

Add a pint of Everclear and 1 oz. pure peppermint extract.
Add 1 cup of top-shelf vodka.

Options: Substitute the peppermint with either vanilla (to taste) or cinnamon.
